This is a professional level position under the general supervision of the Director of Operations. The Dispute Resolution Program Director supervises a small staff and a large roster of volunteers who provide community and court-based conflict resolution services and educational workshops and mediation training at a variety of locations throughout the county. This program is funded through a grant created by the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act (DRPA) and administered by the County of Orange. OC Human Relations has been funded to provide this alternative dispute resolution service in the County for over 25 years.

Responsibilities Include:
• Leading and supervising dispute resolution staff and volunteers
• Designing, coordinating, and presenting mediation and conflict resolution skills trainings
• Collaborating with Development Director to strategize outreach and marketing plans to augment
grant funding
• Managing reporting requirements to ensure contract compliance
• Developing and maintaining referral relationships with diverse community groups such as the
court, law-enforcement, community organizations, and schools
• Overseeing efforts to recruit, train, supervise and retain volunteer mediators
• Conducting casework as a community and court mediator
• Collaborating with other agency directors to align services with the agency’s mission
• Developing OCHR’s reputation as a model community mediation center locally and nationally


• BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university, advanced degree preferred
• Completion of DRPA-compliant mediation training
• 5 years of experience conducting mediations in court or community settings
• Familiarity with California court system and case types
• Experience conducting trainings and/or workshops
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and manage community relationships
• Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required

• Prepare comprehensive written reports and well-constructed oral presentations
• Work independently, be well organized, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Knowledge of:
• Mediation and ADR Theory and Practices
• Court system and its processes
• Restorative practices
• Individual and intergroup relations and problem-solving techniques
• Human relation dynamics and civil rights issues
• Community building techniques

This is a fulltime position, 40 hours a week. Annual Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.
