OC Human Relations Executive Director Rusty Kennedy with guest speaker Dorothy Mulkey and Commissioner Ken Inouye.

OC Human Relations Civil Rights History Exhibit
Dorothy Mulkey tells the story of how she was part of the landmark civil rights ruling Mulkey v. Reitman during the opening ceremony of the Orange County Civil Rights History Exhibit at Second Baptist Church in Santa Ana Wednesday evening. In 1967, the case of Mulkey v. Reitman went to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it ruled in the Mulkeys’ favor and overturned Prop. 14, which meant landlords no longer could refuse to rent to people because of their skin color, religion or ethnicity.
